Unusual Name

On a slow amble back from the hospital after giving blood for the first time :-) I found this gravestone in our parish church for someone named Theodosila. What a lovely and unusual choice. I love discovering new names and their meanings. I can't find this one in The Oxford Dictionary of Christian Names: the closest is Theodosia, which means 'divinely given'. The novelist Anya Seton wrote a book called My Theodosia based on the life of Theodosia Burr Alston, daughter of US Vice President Aaron Burr set in the early 1800s. Happy Monday!
