Buttercups
A day doing bits & pieces, but I managed to drag myself away for a couple of hours or so to have a walk round a park we had visited several weeks ago on one of our Ramblers walks - the Merkland Local Nature Reserve in Kirkintilloch.
Formerly the site of a colliery, this is an area of woodland, wetland and grassland with good paths and much to see, especially in summer. On my short walk I saw deer grazing contentedly and heard lots of different birds all chirruping away good style. I was also taken by the number and variety of wild flowers in bloom. What was once a hive of industry is now a place to relax and forget oneself for a short while.
