One species each day (from my backyard)
It was a mild evening again and I saw several interesting species of the kind that usually hide when it's cold, but I had to choose one. Among them was an easy one to identify because it is very common in our backyard, but not so easy to photograph. It's a Steatoda capensis (False katipo). They usually sprint away when I get near them with the camera, but this one was a bit slower, perhaps because it was missing a leg. It is also quite black and shiny, so it's hard to get a good portrait. I reworked it a bit using Nikon's Capture NX-D.
