Mental Ramblings
We, as individual human beings, have an amazing capacity to make a difference in life.
I used to think about how I was failing to do that because of how I was defining "difference."
It took too long but I now realize that "small" differences are important to the fabric of big change.
My goal this year is to express more kindness.
That focus alone has changed how I define "difference" and the realization that maybe it's not about my definition at all.
I hear so many discussions about the need for "the government" to help people more.
I hear far fewer people talk about the need for people, for themselves, to help people more.
When I was growing up, I was given a plate of food every evening to walk down the street to the elderly neighbor who was blind. My grandmother made quilts every year to give away to those in need. My mother would help the other people at the nursing facility when my Nana was there.
There are so many examples of daily "differences" in my memories.
It really does take so little to make a positive impact on others and a HUGE impact on myself. :)
