Bit gory!!

Back at the graveyard again- not really me but just convenient for the High street and interesting!
This contraption is called a mortsafe and it is hanging on the inside of the Lichgate which dates from 1656. The mortsafe dates from 1816, it was used to prevent body snatching and was clamped around the coffin to make it too heavy for grave robbers.
It was recycled when the body was sufficiently decomposed, yuch!
Home again just before the rain, afternoon making lamb broth I think- hate wasting a good lamb bone!
