JOY is........
participating in the "Gulf Island West Coast Pirates Regatta"! The 3rd annual event here (it used to happen at another nearby Island) of a rather eclectic smallish group of sailing boats that “race” around the island as pirate ships — no boat can cross the finish line early and the winner is the one with the best stories of having the most fun. They are in costume and will have a barbecue tonight, hear the stories of the “race” - (some try to board others, there are water cannons and guns, lots of carrying on, etc.) to decide on the winner - whoever had the most fun! We saw them start out just north of us in a very respectable breeze on a beautiful day (see extra photo) and then we were in Montague Harbor when they finished, 3-4 hours later the breeze having almost disappeared. but this was the closest I came to seeing those pirates! ( the flag is skull and crossbones.)
Our power went out for the most of the day...very odd for a nice day ...( sorry to say I missed it - couldn't upload my photos...).... turns out it was a large fish boat who had engine problems and had to anchor in Montague Harbor this morning and snagged (or cut) the underwater electric cable!
JOY is my weekly challenge,...... :-)
