I'm beehind you ...

It's been a bee-zzzzzy day.

(Well, it's not been that busy but I needed to use the word bee-zzzzzy)

We had a kind of working lunch with an Indian family. I turned up carrying a gift, as you do, and our host frowned at me and said to Elbows "But you've been here before?".

When we left several hours later, I was presented with a gift. I tried to say thank you but the hosts insisted that no thanks must be said. On my first visit to their house, I must be given a gift. I should not have brought a gift because Elbows had visited before!

They were too nice to be offended but this logic doesn't feel right.
