The Irises Were Out In Full

Not a good morning today...an early start for dressage and after 25 minutes into the warm up, we were stepping up the pace for the last ten minutes before my first test when Johnny slipped and somehow put his back foot through the arena fence..he pulled up lame and I jumped off too see that he had 8 - 9 gashes on his leg and he couldn't put his foot down. We managed some basic first aid and got him back to the yard to patch him up properly and apply lots of cold water. I think we are lucky that it may not be as serious as we first thought and whilst I have no doubt it will be very sore and stiff for a few days, it seems there is no permanent damage.

We decided to spend the afternoon having a lovely walk around Burnby Hall Gardens followed by tea and cake (of course...). We were slightly early for the lilies, the irises were out in full.
