Soldier

Most of the day was taken up by a trip through to Ayr for the opening of MacArt - an exhibition curated by the Maclaurin Trust.

The exhibition was opened by Peter Howson who came to international attention through his graphic paintings from the Bosnian conflict.  He is patron of the trust and, as such, awarded the Patron Prize.  He takes his patronage seriously and gave a drawing to each of the prize-winners - a very generous gesture.

The Maclaurin gallery is located in Rozelle Park which is wonderful resource for the people of Ayr.  As we found out today, it is particularly valuable when the wind comes in off the sea and tries to shift Ayr beach a few miles inland.

They have cut down some woodland in the park which has enabled them to add to commemorations of war.
