Serendipity
A year ago today I was exploring the mountains and meadows in Switzerland with H, warm sunshine, flowers and butterflies aplenty. A wonderful experience.
Two days ago I commented thus to SwissPiper, another Swiss blip friend: Painted Ladies occasionally reach our part of the world, some years in huge numbers. It depends on winds and warmth. So far this year we've had winds from the wrong direction ... and as for warmth :-(
So it was a lovely surprise when the above appeared in my Norfolk garden this morning, feasting on the nectar of Saponaria ocymoides, Rock Soapwort, a plant I saw in the Pyrenees many years ago.
