Mid-Week Pick-Me-Up

That's one of the descriptive phrases used for the Bellingham Farmers Market seasonal Wednesday Market, which runs from June through September.

This smaller market, which takes place on the Fairhaven Village Green behind Village Books, has nearly 30 vendors, from farmers and crafters to purveyors of delicious ready-to-eat food, most of whom also are at the big Saturday market downtown.

Children enjoy the face painter and fairy balloon artist seen above, as well as running and playing on the Village Green. The market's Fresh Local Music series offers free informal concerts on the Green midafternoon by local musicians, another reason to take Wednesday afternoons off and just relax.

My weekly Gentle Yoga Class meets at 3 pm just a block away, so for the next four months I can enjoy the Wednesday Market and then go to yoga -- a mellow mid-point for the week!
