one species a day

One species each day (from my backyard)

This shrub is growing along the garden path near the kitchen. It took a while to identify it, but Google helped again. It is a Polygala myrtifolia, originating from South Africa. It flowers almost continuously and I have tried several times to photograph them, but usually with little success. The flowers don't seem to care much about what's up or down, but I wanted them to be the right way up. So I waited. Due to it's long keel it needs quite a bit of depth of field, so either a very small aperture or a little distance, neither of which the small built-in flash of the camera could handle at 100 ISO during my late night photo shooting adventures. On a sunny day I had more light to play with, but also the wind to deal with. But this day there was plenty of the first and little of the second and I took quite a few shots and choose the sharpest one.
