Democratic Process

Last night from 6:30 PM (after dinner) to 1:30 AM (when normal people sleep) I was an "Election Night Warrior". Doesn't that sound exotic?
I was one of 40 Ballet Box Inspectors who documented, opened, sorted and prepared the ballots from the various precincts for the Scanners who fed the ballots into the tabulating machines.
There are a lot of people involved behind the scenes after the polls close at 8:00 PM. I was only one of hundreds.
Like worker ants we each had one task to do - many of them were NOT glamorous (moving a ballot box from table one to table two; then going back to get ANOTHER box from table one, and move it to table two because the worker at table two had finished their task and needed a new box).
Equipment from the precincts was put away for the next election, boxes were filled, sealed, loaded, escorted, transported, unloaded, escorted, opened, sorted, boxed, escorted to a secure, locked cage, scanned, tabulated, boxed, and so on.
This is what I saw from my sorting table.
I could not see everything.
I was a busy doing my one task.
I finished my task and went home,.
Others continued the process by doing their individual task until finished. Then they went home also.
When we awoke we learned the results of our labor.
Democracy.
Of the People, For the People, By the People.
