The tiny traveller
Among the many young starlings on my aunt's feeder this afternoon I spotted this one which had been ringed. I was able to get a reasonably clear shot through the window and blinds then was able to contact the person who ringed it. Apparently it was ringed as a newly-fledged juvenile on 20/05/15 at Thetford in Norfolk about 20 miles away as the starling flies ! We agreed it seemed a long way for it to have travelled so young and I wondered if the very strong winds we had early in the week had anything to do with it.
Interesting to see a bird and find out something about it - I have seen ornithologists catching and ringing wild birds before but never spotted one wearing a ring.
