Sika deer at Arne

The female, at left, is cautiously approaching the male.  She is very probably a yearling, whereas the size of the male's antlers suggests that he is a year or two older.

At the moment the majority of adult Sika does are either about to give birth or caring for their new offspring.  They will be well hidden from view.

Yearling does will become sexually mature later in the year, in time for the rut.
