The Tower, Chapel St, Chesterton.
Grade 1 listed, English Heritage. 14 -15th century building, 2 storeys, stone, vaulted in 2 bays with hollow chamfered ribs and carved bosses. Some original windows and old fireplace. The building in the old vicarage grounds is thought to have belonged to the Procurator of the Abbot of Vercelli and is a rare example of the home of a foreign appropriator. I knew this building was near St Andrew's Church Hall which I visited today, but I only found it because I got off at the wrong bus stop and had to walk back a bit. Sadly it is hemmed in by a row of garages and modern flats. I have put some extra pictures of the inside which I was able to look at. I love the feeling and atmosphere of ancient buildings.
