The impatience of youth....
I was, at the same time, amused and concerned at the impatience of a young woman on the way to work this morning.
I had to stop off at a local shop - on setting off again I had to reverse out of the space back into the road. There was nothing coming for a hundred yards in either direction. By the time I'd pulled out and set off a young woman came haring up behind me right up to my bumper. She proceeded to try and get into the back of and around my car and as I drove up the road - a road that has more than its fair share of speed bumps and parked cars on both sides. She was clearly not amused that I would't and couldn't drive at more than 20-25 mph. Hand gestures and no doubt verbal abuse spewing forth.
When I got to then end of the road I was turning right and she left. However, as I came up to the junction, a bin lorry was stationary right across the junction - she was so close she couldn't see past me and she tries to muscle her way around the left side of my car to find this trunk barring her way. More arm waving ensued. Behind the lorry was a queue of about 30 vehicles all waiting to get past the truck as it eased it's slow and laborious journey down the road. She didn't for some reason accept my helpful suggestion that she calm down. I know I shouldn't have goaded her but, unless someone challenges people like this they'll end up causing and accident.
Her problems had been entirely self inflicted because had she instead gone the opposite way her route would have been 1/2 mile shorter and would have come out well in front of the bin lorry.
It was funny but also worrying that someone could drive so aggressively in a residential street where kids are in their way to school. She was positively a danger to herself and others irrespective of the state of the roads.
Another walk around the park again at lunchtime today. I need to take my dSLR next time. I'm just not getting the quality with the G15 in what is challenging harsh summer midday lighting.
