Fortress

Matariki, the building I work in. As I left work today I turned and looked at it. To my eyes it is ugly and reflects the era it was built in.

Back then it was known as the Registry. It was deliberately designed to suggest a fortress. Somehow it won an architectural award. I guess there weren't many other buildings built that year.

Times have changed and we welcome students onto campus and want them to be an integral part of the place, not cordoned off on the other side of the Avon River (a mere stream flowing through campus).

2 weeks to go and my time working in the building is over.
