Giant Poppy
Whilst playing football with the collies in the paddock (as one does) I noticed these giant poppies hidden behind a clump of weeds.
Talking of collies, I really must comment on how far we have come with one of our rescue collies, Flash.
My early journals were full of anxiety as this young dog appeared to become fear aggressive over-night. He howled and howled after the vet had put our born blind collie Ellie to sleep in our kitchen and that was it. Every lone man with a backpack or a hat was seen as a risk and needed to be charged at, even tall women were seen as a threat. You were ok if you had a dog. That was normal in his eyes but decent people didn't hunt in ones. They were the lone wolves. He also didn't like cyclists
We had had collies all our adult lives but had never come across anything like this. We spent hundreds and hundreds of pounds on trainers. Some came carrying crystals and asked us to focus on spots on the floor in order to practice mindfulness, others yanked at the lead and shouted and at him (this made it worse). We even went to a boot camp for dogs for the weekend. The only one who was terrified and exhausted was me. We thought he was going to have to wear a muzzle and be on a lead whenever he went out for the rest of his life. Then suddenly, he changed. It was gradual at first. I noticed he stopped looking at people warily. Now he is fine. He hasn't reacted for over
