FANTAIL (Piwakawaka)
Boy have I wasted some time on these little blokes !! They are the worlds greatest flitters - I'm always happy just to get one in the frame. NZ Native & also found in Australia and throughout the Pacific. A bit smaller than a sparrow lays 3-4 eggs - white with grey and brown spots.
I actually came across this little chap following me as I moved through the forest looking for fungi. They often do this as we put up insects when we move around. - we used to rub a cork on a bottle to attract them - Now people use polystyrene on polystyrene - ah! for the good old bottle days !!
I put up an extra just for luck !
