The Eyes Have It
Dew-soaked harvestman – unknown species.
An early morning foray yielded this three image focus stack (bathed in dew). Then the flash seemed to wake it up and it started waving its legs around. At this magnification, the angle reminds me of a marine crayfish – the Arthropoda have a long reach.
What I find fascinating in these insect macro shots are the eyes. Although they don’t have the same resolution as mammalian eyes, insect predators are clearly visually oriented.
