Perched on a bridge post
Not raining this morning, so a run to Whisper Cove was in order. Although there was little in the way of clouds to the west and south, the horizon over the Hauraki Gulf (north and east of here) was dense black cloud. It was well past sunrise before very much colour was seen, and then it was minimal.
Part way along Erceg's Way, an exuberant dog on the beach disturbed this heron which lolloped over me to perch, albeit briefly, on one of the posts supporting a bridge across a creek, which eventually enters the bay at Whisper Cove.
Because I was concerned that the clouds in the east may mean rain, I took the wee compact Nikon, as it is easier to keep dry if it did rain. Which it didn't. Although my attempt at a slightly arty shot of a kotare on a fence rail was hurt by the camera choosing to focus on the waving grass heads and not the kotare, it did the job here rather well.
Morning spent on puzzles and sorting things, and then this afternoon I've written a report. An early dinner before heading back to Auckland so that I can get to the unit for the MDT meeting tomorrow morning.
