Special Effects Masterclass
I was asked to shoot a little sequence yesterday of the page on a blank notebook being turned for something that L1452 want to make.
They should me the kind of shot they had in mind, which looked easy enough to replicate. Not very difficult, you'd think, but they didn't want a hand to appear in the shot! I was stumped for a little while thinking, how, but then I thought, what If I could somehow pull the page across the shot.
So, I pricked a wee hole in the top corner of the page that needed turning and threaded a piece of thread through that. Knotted at the back.
I was now able to turn the page and the thread was thin enough not to be visible in the shot. I used the wee ghoulie as a weight to keep the thread out of the shot, while I 1st of all panned across the page, then held that shot for about 10 seconds and then, finally, picked up and pulled the thread to turn the page.
It worked out quite well, I'll post a link later. I'm really enjoying getting to learn more about this whole film-making malarkey.
