Time's Paces
When as a child I laughed and wept, - Time crept.
When as a youth I dreamed and talked, - Time walked.
When I became a full grown man, - Time ran.
And later as I older grew - - Time flew.
Soon I shall find when travelling on, - Time gone.
Will Christ have saved my soul by then? - Amen.
Poem originally written by Henry Twells (1823 - 1900) supposedly first published in 1901 but how it came to be written on the pendulum of the clock that was donated to our local church in 1851 I am not sure.
This was very difficult to take because the pendulum was moving but it was also quite dark - fast shutter means less light. Sorry pendulum is slighlty blurred
