Flies
This little one was bothered by the flies that were represented in great numbers in the forest and the meadows. Nose in mama's tail and with the little hooves it tried to scratch itself.
I present you ( in the extra today - open at your own risk) some fresh horse dung that was so covered in flies that we at first did not recognize what it was. 10 000 were on it and with a big whoosh they flew up like a little grey cloud when we passed. I had to wait a bit until they took place again. But only one third came back. For me this was interesting for several reasons. For once I haven't seen this in many years and then you just forget about it. Reno is so dry that there are way less insects and flies. The other thing was, that I was reminded of a book, in which was explained that in criminal research one can find out by the number of flies on a corps, how long the victim has been dead. And a couple of other things. Disgusting but helpful nonetheless.
This was during my first walk after leaving hospital this morning. Am not very fit yet, but that will come soon.
