Doolan's
I honestly don't know where to start. I drove down the shore to meet my sister and brother in law for dinner. I thought the place we were going to was a small upscale restaurant on the beach. Instead it was a huge venue that had hotel rooms, a big banquet room for weddings and a restaurant.
It wasn't on the beach but it had a beach-like feel to it. We were escorted into the restaurant where I noticed immediately everyone was much older than we were. We sat at our table and ordered drinks. Then, a man than looked like Robert Goulet sat down with a microphone. He started singing a Frank Sinatra song from the 50's. Everyone, I mean everyone that was seated in the restaurant, got up and went to the front of the room and started dancing. They didn't just rock back and forth either, they were good! I was getting a stiff neck from watching them from where our table was. I have no idea how to dance like that. After a couple of songs the people would all go back to their table to eat something and then they would get up and dance again. It was incredible to see. It was like a secret club and they let us in to see them.
Maybe it was the drinks I had but the music started to sound good to me. I thought it was sweet that these couples were having so much fun. I hope they didn't mind that we were staring at them dance.
Oh and the food was wonderful. We enjoyed everything. Dinner and a show. An unexpected surprise that turned out very nice.
