Osprey

The high school marching band is just below this nest marching and playing their heart's out. This happens at least 3 times a week yet these beautiful birds continue to float above with sticks and grasses, building their nest back onto this newly refurbished platform. We were concerned that they may not take to it once the original had been interfered with but they don't seem to mind at all. The old one was precariously pitched around 3 large lights that illuminated the football field at night but branches fell periodically so the school district erected an old snag brought from another school and placed a wooden platform to add stability and get the nest off the lights. And all seems to be well.
There are 20 or so school buses parked about 50 yards away as well as the student parking lot at the base of the tree. I cannot imagine why they are loyal to this location, but I am so very grateful that they are!
I have Osprey in my new home too, that fish outside my bedroom window. Sort of like the story of the Town Mouse and the Country Mouse.
