Whit Friday Marches

Back-blip from a fantastic day at the Whit Friday Brass Band Contests - see link in yesterday's blip for details.

We played at six of the eleven venues in the Saddleworth Contests starting with Lydgate then Greenfield, Uppermill, Diggle, Dobcross and finishing at Delph. Not all the results are in yet but we've been notified of an 11th place out of 69 bands which is brilliant given that we are in the 3rd tier of the 5 brass band sections (divisions) so would expect to come about mid way in the pecking order.

This image is of the band playing immediately before us at Diggle. The caravan is where the adjudicator writes his notes and ranks the bands in order.

We got back to the hotel just before midnight and kept the night barman up til the early hours. I eventually crashed at a quarter to five; there were five of the band still drinking and playing spoof, if you know what that is.
