Sutton Hoo
As the forecast isn't too good for tomorrow I went out for a walk today to Sutton Hoo, a National Trust site near the Suffolk coast.
This is how the National Trust describe the site: 'Days before the outbreak of the Second World War, an Anglo Saxon king and his treasured possessions were unearthed by archaeologist Basil Brown. These ancient graves kept their secrets for 1300 years, but what was found here changed our perceptions of the past forever. The atmospheric ancient burial mounds, breathtaking replicas (the originals are in the British Museum), original finds and reconstruction of the king's burial chamber bring this fascinating story to life'. This picture is taken on one of the walks through the site.
My extra photo is of the replica of the Warriors helmet which hangs over the door of the exhibition centre. It is about eight feet tall and is made of steel. Although it looks like reflections on glass in the eye section it is in fact the metal framework from the rear showing through.
