Pigeon Guillemot

This bird is a shore bird that lives near the rocks of ocean shorelines and jetties. I saw him near the mouth of the Tillamook bay. I was surprise to read that he is a member of the puffin family and that he has sharp claws on his big red webbed feet. It seems strange to me that he is called a pigeon guillemot because he is not related to a pigeon!

Lovely day at the Oregon coast today. Sunny and warm, with clouds coming and going all day.
