60 years of World Press Photo

Visited the WPP exhibition 2015 in Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) Amsterdam ~ impressive pictures as usual and up to some extent I was glad to see there was no overall focus on bloody scenes  we were presented the past year so often by all the media.

On this billboard the first prize winners of the past 60 years of the World Press Photo contest are selected & presented ~ dramatic images, always.
I remember the line of winning pictures from 1967 onwards which is with that Vietnam warrior by Co Rentmeester (2nd top right in this capture) the focus on his eye looking into the periscope to scout his where abouts.
Most winning images covered dramatic painful scenes of men's wars & fights the world all over ... do wonder if ever a joyful image can win this contest too
