Historic window

This window is in Laycock Abbey and it is historic because it was the subject of the very first photographic negative ever made. Laycock Abbey was the home of William Fox-Talbot, said to be the inventor of photography. The ancient blurred image of the window appears in any book about the history of photography.
There is more to Laycock than Fox-Talbot however, as Normous and I found out today. The Abbey was a wealthy nunnery until it was dissolved by Henry VIII after which it became a private residence in the same family until 2011. On a tour of the property you can see Elizabethan, Georgian, Victorian and 1930s areas - so much history in one building.

On the last evening of our holiday together as a family we went out for a meal to celebrate Jake's birthday which is on Sunday. I've never seen such enormous burgers!
