Achensee Lake

As the forecast wasn't that great today, I went on a coach trip to Rattenberg, one of Austrias best preserved medieval cities known for its glass blowing. Then took a steam train to Achensee Lake, the largest alpine lake in Austria, and because of its altitude and depth, also the coldest.

Walking along the shoreline, it was seriously cold, but when I climbed a viewing tower, the air was noticeably warmer only 20m above the water level.
