Trees in Warnscale Bottom

(Back Blip)

We decided to head to Buttermere to walk around the lake. We saw various competitors in the ultra marathon which was being run as part of the Keswick Mountain Festival. We also kept passing and being passed by a group of partially sighted walkers and their guides who were on a walking holiday from Scotland.

This is a view of the stand of pine trees in Warnscale Bottom at the base of Fleetwith Pike and Hay Stacks, and I think the mono conversion is quite dramatic.

We couldn't walk all the way along the lake shore as the Buttermere village end was closed off to protect ground nesting birds, so I was unable to do my take on the iconic Buttermere tree.

On the way back to Keswick we called in at Rannerdale to see the Bluebells, but we had to cut short the visit as it started to rain a bit.

I have uploaded an extra picture from Rannerdale
