Old Man of Storr

Today the Skye weather was not so kind to us with an icy wind and intermittent rain leading to maximum temperatures of only about 8C - not the sort of temperatures we expect in May.
We drove North stopping at the Skye Museum of Island Life with its preserved thatched cottages depicting conditions on the island around the end of the 19th Century and completed the circuit around this part of the island stopping for a look at the Old Man of Storr. This 50 m high rock on the Trotternish ridge can be seen for miles - we decided to leave a walk up to it for a better day and instead headed for the Talisker distillery where a sample of some fine malts warmed us up!
