3 Slip, Historic Dockyard, Chatham
This is the view of the roof of 3 Slip from it's mezzanine gallery. I think it's one of the most beautiful buildings I've seen - it was built in the dockyard in 1838 and at the time it was Europe's largest wide span timber structure. The dockyard itself has been on it's present site since 1613 and only ceased to be a working site for the navy in the early 1980's. It's almost impossible to take a bad picture of this glorious roof and iI just hope I've done it justice.
Of course, it being a Bank Holiday it rained but it's a fascinating place to go and covers over 80 acres so there is so much to see!
