The day that wasn't meant to be.

The girl is on half-term and the Mister had the day off. We were going to spend it in Bath, eating lunch, spending the girl's pocket money, buying a chopping board and a pair of jeans and going to an independent bookshop that plays Amy Winehouse on vinyl and smells just right.

The reality? Woken up by screaming and sobbing at 3-45am when it turned out that no, we hadn't quite missed out on the sickness bug that was going around school in the last week of term. After 7 years of life my darling girl is still horrified and completely unprepared every time her digestion goes wrong. There was laundry, scrubbing, cuddles and stories and her cherished GoGoTomago doll was held upsidedown under the cold tap for a quick rinse and a promise, then left propped up against the laundry basket. She was still there several hours and as many loads of washing later. I liked the reflections so blipped her before stripping her down and starting the contingency doll hair and laundry wash. She looks like she's had about as good a day as the rest of us.

The girl is now in bed, almost as right as rain, after requesting both breakfast and lunch at the same time. The Mr and I are both rather tired...
