All About the River

As Mr PB put it: a proper river walk. I'd been waiting for a nice day to complete the next leg of my river journey. It is possibly the longest section of the river where you can walk along the bank for over 5 uninterrupted miles, starting in Conisbrough and finishing in Doncaster taking in the YWT wildlife Reserve Sprotbrough Flash. Finally we had some decent weather - even managing to eat a pub lunch outdoors. There was plenty of wildlife: butterflies, wildflowers, birds. The casual visitor to Doncaster would be unlikely to be aware that the River Don flows through a Magnesian Limestone Gorge nearby. We  saw a Mountain Rescue Team practising their craft on the sheer cliff face.
The river view is taken from the disused railway viaduct at the start of our walk.
