The natives are revolting......

......against the demolition of Whitley Bay's historic Central Lower Promenade (rather than a much more sensible refurbishment option....which, god forbid, might even reap rewards in the future ) Following years of systemic neglect by the local authority the decision to 'rip it down' and replace it with an engineered too-steep-to-mow (even if they could be arsed) grassy slope with an unfenced 4m drop to the beach was passed by a less than full-attending planning committee last week. There was a bit of a photocall by the local seaside rag there this lunchtime.....quite a decent turnout! It's probably a lost cause but I'm glad I went!
