Elementary School Field Day
Every year members from the National Honor Society get to help with Elementary School field days. The Elementary school that I was helping with has two field days, one for the 3rd-6th graders and one for the kindergarteners, first and second graders. I helped at the younger kid’s field day yesterday. In the morning there were three events, then a ten minute break, followed by three more events. The first three were tug of war, hopper balls, and the dash. My group was in charge of the dash. After all the kids in kindergarten, first and second grade ran we played a big game of Duck Duck Goose. After the break, we set up three more events, the belly bumpers, the sack races, and relay races. My group was in charge of the relay races. After all the classes went through these stations it was time to eat lunch. We ate lunch with all of the kids and it brought back so many memories from when I was in elementary school. After everyone ate lunch we went outside for the afternoon activities. There were nine different stations and each helper got to run their own station. There was a dancing station, buddy walker race, a maze game, an obstacle course, parachute games, a home run derby and a game where the kids had to pick things up with big chopsticks. I was in charge of a game called “Clean the yard.” There was a net set up and a team on either side of the net. There were little yarn balls that we pretended was “trash” and they had to throw them over the fence to keep their yards clean. Overall it was a really fun day and I am happy that I got to help out.
