Watercress line

What a fab bank holiday day out on the Mid Hants Railway Watercress line. A restored railway line run by volunteers running 2 steam engines today from Alresford to Alton in Hampshire.

We decided to treat ourselves with a lovely day out so set off with the little ones. C was fascinated by the steam engines and T, Dad and C all climbed up onto the footplate when the engine arrived to watch the fireman shovelling coal into the firebox.

We boarded the train after cups of tea and coffee on the station platform and enjoyed the ride to Alton. Rosie was awake for a bit after her feed and then slept in her carrycot on the train.

After a brief walk around we headed back for the return leg. The ticket inspector let C clip his own ticket which was a big hit and R slept the whole way back.

The whole day was really enjoyable and a bit of a glimpse of a by gone era. The volunteers keep the trains and railway in such great condition and are very friendly.

We were all exhausted when we got home from our adventures.
