Papal gardens
at Castel Gandolfo which is the Pope's summer residence, situated on the rim of a vulcanic lake. Most people think of it as a lake, but I esee it as a dormant vulcano, just waiting to explode. again. This could well happen sooner or later as the lake is still coughing up gas.
This new Pope, has recently opened the gardens to visitors. The gardens cover a sloping area, facing the sea which is greater than the vatican city. They are very formal with very few flowers but there is an amazing variety of greens that create an interestinfg effect.
The tour involved two hours of walking and my hip didn't hurt at all, thanks to all workouts and cycle machine.
