Musings of a Mortal

John Muir Way...Done!!

We made it!! And at about 10:45 in the morning with time to spare!! John Muir Way completed in under 24 hours (see yesterdays blip for a wee note of our plans!).

The whole trip was great.....the weather yesterday was fab - setting off in glorious sunshine - and it was only later on it the day that it started to drizzle at bit!!.

We managed to keep a good pace - enjoying a good stop for lunch - and all looked good for getting into South Queensferry where we had planned to get a bite to eat and then bivvy down for a few hours - until potential disaster struck!!

Peter's rear derailleur on his bike broke and twisted badly!! We thought the "Game was a bogey" but eventually managed to get something fashioned to keep him going.

Limping into the Ferry at about 10:30 at night - a quick bite as consumed and then into the Dalmeny estate to find a spot to Bivvy - 80 miles cycled.

Up at 0400 hours - packed and then headed of (quick divert to Peter's home so he could swap bikes) but because of the early start, it was not until we arrived in Musselburgh that we found a place that was open that sold fresh Coffee!!!! Heaven!!!!

Onwards and Eastwards and approx 60 miles later, we arrived at Dunbar at 10:45.

John Muir Way in under 24 hours!

Brilliant!!
