Kuntskamera

This is known as the kuntskamera and was the first museum in St Petersburg. It consists largely of deformed foetuses preserved in jars and is the brainchild of Peter the great. He was obsessed by monsters and by proving that they do not exist and therefore called for all deformed foetuses miscarried to be brought here so they could be put on display to educate the public. It was gross.
