Alexandria VA
A short distance along the Potomac is Alexandria, the Town we lived in for a few months when we first arrived in DC in the 1990's. It has a lovely historic Old Town and Harbor which we enjoy strolling round a couple of times a year. The City was founded by Scottish tobacco merchants it celebrates its Scottish roots , has its own pipe band and is the home of the Virginia Highland Games, held every July. It is twinned with Dundee.
This tobacconist has been here as long as we have been coming to Alexandria.
After a wee wonder around and a pleasant lunch we headed back home along George Washington Parkway; amongst the bikers riding to honor veterans for Memorial Day.
