Glass gem

Dichroic Glass was created for use in the space industry. Thin layers of rare metallic oxides are deposited on the surface of the glass in a vacuum furnace.  Dichroic coatings transmit certain wavelengths of light, while reflecting others,  so when viewed from different angles, you see different colours. The glass is cut and layered before firing it in a kiln to fuse together.
