Bolton Abbey
Visit to the Yorkshire Dales with the camera club.
Bolton Abbey is a village named by the coming of the railway. Apparently Bolton in Wharfedale was too long to go on a standard station nameplate so the railway company renamed the village after its most significant attraction, the ruined Augustinian abbey in the bend of the river Wharfe . Hence Bolton Abbey.
