Unexpected

Mid-morning I realised that it had become necessary to take my leg to hospital as the very deep cat scratch I received last weekend in Akbuk is not healing - and has become an interesting palette of colours.  Expecting to receive a disinfectant cleansing, I was informed by a trio of doctors (ER, infectious diseases and orthopaedic surgeon) that I needed minor surgery to remove infected and dead tissue around the more than 1cm deep (yes really!) cat claw hole in my calf and as it required general anaesthetic, an over night stay was needed.  No further lessons to teach so I stayed to have it done there and then.  Soonest best in such situations and the wonders of private health care. The procedure was around 4pm although I can't remember anything of course, followed by a quiet peaceful evening in this huge and elegant room watching an interesting programme on Cornelia Parker and two art works in particular here and here;  NBA channel for a bit of, well, big beefy men bouncing balls, and finished off the visual feast with some 'fantastic' action in Kurt Russell's "Soldier".  Three course dinner and constant care, I can thoroughly recommend private health care at LIV hospital, Ulus, Istanbul. I can also recommend not suddenly waking a sleeping cat on your balcony by stepping over it ...

Also unexpected was the 'extra' pic of me 'in-action' helping another teacher's kids who were doing this large project in the hallway this morning.  No, we don't normally teach in hallways... well, actually, we do, now i come to think of it......
