Pals

We were at the school tonight to say farewell to Matt as his year set off on their school trip to the battlefields of France and Belgium. 

As of now, they're in the Dunbar Pals Battalion (the bus he and Fraser are on is apparently "D" Company) though I suspect the travelling conditions will be a bit better than for the WWI troops. 

Before they were piped aboard the buses, one of the organisers said a few words. She pointed out that like them, those in the real Pals Battalions would have known one another all their lives, since they first started school.

As we waved them off, I think there were more than a few parents remembering the little kids they used to be.  

Still, they'll be back by Christmas.  Or next Thursday.
