Somerset Levels

I have read many books about this part of the world, and then last year The Levels were very much in the news when they were seriously flooded for many weeks. So it was good to visit the area today and see for myself the flat landscape and straight drains. The drains were bordered with masses of buttercups. We went on a long walk and I was glad to have my walking stick with me. At last it felt like summer with hot sunshine and a gentle breeze. It was shirtsleeve weather whereas earlier in the week we were still wearing our fleeces!
Earlier in the day we visited a pottery, a cider making establishment and a smokery. We are really into holiday mode.
